Sometimes, if we're lucky, we get to witness the extravagance of mother nature. By sandblasting this pipe, a unique grain pattern emerged revealing what looks to me like dragon scales which ring the entire bowl.  The display is accentuated by the brown over black contrast coloring of the dye and the combination blue-black and earthtones of the mammoth tusk mortise. 
The shape, length and weight combine to make this a very well balanced and comfortable smoker.
